Who we are

We mentor students from less-privileged backgrounds across England and Wales to support their applications to top UK universities, improve their prospects and provide opportunities in later life.

We are a non-profit organisation who believe in a thriving, equal society where every bright young mind has the skills, confidence and opportunity to aspire to and achieve their higher education goals.

We are opening the doors to a future that reflects our students’ talent, not their background.

What we do

Oxbridge Mentoring Scheme (OMS)

Our flagship, 10-month structured \ programme supports students with their applications to Oxford, Cambridge and other top UK universities.

IO Ambassadors

A nationwide network of ambassadors provides opportunities for our OMS alumni to interact with each other and create links with local communities of students.

Social Impact Internships

The summer internship programme provided to our OMS alumni, giving them the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in a growing organisation.

In 2019, 40% of our OMS Oxbridge applicants secured offers from Oxford or Cambridge. This is twice the national average!

Camellia Basu

Cambridge History Student
“As a first-generation university student in my family, the OMS gave
me excellent support. Despite lacking confidence, OMS drew out my key strengths, helped me refine my UCAS personal statement, while mock interviews prepared me for the toughest part of the Cambridge admissions process.”

Michael Omigie

Cambridge Chemical Engineering Student

“The OMS developed my confidence in time for my Cambridge interview. The structure of the academic mentoring programme works really well and I enjoyed my tutorial sessions and wished they could continue forever. The OMS team actually cared about my progress and were continually trying to make me a better, stronger applicant.”

Hannah Malcolm

Cambridge Theology & Religious Studies Graduate

“I applied to Oxbridge from a Further Education College which lacked support for Oxbridge applications. The OMS was invaluable in helping me navigate the process and guiding me through additional reading, my personal statement, and interview preparation.”

“I was the first from my school in 40 years to get to Oxbridge.”

Hannah Okorafor

Cambridge History Graduate

“Whilst applying to Cambridge, my OMS mentor gave me endless advice on how to write a strong personal statement, and what studying history at Cambridge would be like, while their mock interviews helped me understand what to expect and how to discuss my subject academically.”

Akshar Abhyankar

Cambridge History & Modern Languages Student

“The OMS was an incredible programme, not only for helping me achieve my dream of studying at Cambridge University but also giving me the tools needed to succeed at university and in future employment. I felt more confident, more skilled and more experienced after completing the programme.”

John Lacy

Cambridge Physics PhD

“Through the OMS, I secured a place to read Cambridge Natural Sciences at Downing College. OMS prepared me for interviews by advising me on how to answer academic questions, but also instilled the confidence to think critically and creatively for myself.”
